Nutricise - The Demonstration Version
Nutricise is designed to provide quick and accurate diet and
exercise analysis. Using Nutricise you can easily enter into
your computer the foods that you ate and immediately determine
their nutritional content.
The full version of Nutricise allows you to enter and store
information about many different people and it provides analysis
for up to seven days of food and exercise. This demonstration
version consists of the food entry portion of Nutricise with no
provision for storing the information. It does contain the
complete Nutricise food list and 19 different RDA tables covering
everyone from infants to pregnant women (the full version also
includes RDA information for nursing mothers).
To operate the demonstration version of Nutricise, make sure you
have the following files on your current drive and directory:
FOOD.EXE
NTCSRDAD.DAT
NTCSFDNM.DAT
NTCSFDNT.DAT
At your computers prompt type FOOD and press the return key.
Nutricise will ask you to enter your age. Ages less than 0 or
greater than 120 will be rejected and you will be asked to enter
it again. The lowest age recognized by Nutricise is less than .5
years. Enter the age of the person who food you want to analyze
and press the return key.
Nutricise will then ask you to enter one of three sexes. Enter M
for males, F for females who are not pregnant, and P for pregnant
females. Enter the sex and press the return key.
Once the age and sex have been entered you will proceed to the
main screen. The main screen is divided into two halves. The
left half is where you will enter and view the food list, and the
right half is where the nutritional information will be
displayed. You will be prompted with:
Food or Command?
At this prompt you may enter the name of a food or one of the
four commands (QUIT, DELETE, LIST, and PRINT).
3
To enter food name type in the first five or six letters of the
food and press the return key. On the bottom half of the screen
Nutricise will display the next eight foods that match or are
close to the name that you entered. The food names that
Nutricise found will be listed next to F1 - F8. To select one of
the foods that Nutricise found you simply press the function key
next to that food (for systems that don't have function keys or
if you use the function keys for some other purpose, Nutricise
will also accept entry of numeric keys instead.)
If none of the foods listed are what you were looking for you can
press the F9 key for the next 8 foods (in alphabetical order) or
press the F10 key to go back to the "Food or Command?" prompt.
Once you have selected a food, Nutricise will display what it has
listed as a common serving size and then it will ask you to enter
how many servings you had. You may enter any number up to 9 and
all fractions are accepted. If you have 1/4 of a serving then
enter .25 at this prompt. If you enter 0 you will be returned to
the "Food or Command?" prompt and the food that you had selected
will be ignored.
Once you have selected a food and entered the number of servings
the nutritional information will be immediately displayed and
updated on the right half of the screen. This information is
cumulative and includes all foods entered in this session.
Nutricise can accept input of up to fifty foods although only the
last ten are displayed on the screen during food entry.
NUTRICISE COMMANDS
LIST The list command allows you to view up to 20 lines of
entered food on a single screen. Once you are finished
viewing the list, the last 10 will be displayed and you
will be returned to the "Food or Command?" prompt.
PRINT The print command tells Nutricise to send a copy of the
food list and nutritional information to the printer.
DELETE The delete command allows you to remove a line that has
been entered. Once the line is deleted all the lines
following it are renumbered.
QUIT The quit command exits Nutricise and returns you to the
operating system. (On most I.B.M. and compatible
systems the quit command does not clear the screen so
if you forgot to get a printout you can still strike
the Shift and PRTSC keys after you have quit
Nutricise.)
